welcome to our Brexit Breakfast Blog
Regular updates on BREXIT and the implications it has on your business' importing/exporting activities.
It’s getting nearer but not necessarily getting clearer. So it may come as some comfort to know that a few highly qualified organisations are now running ‘Guide to Brexit’ websites. Word has it that they will charge you around £10,000 for the benefit of their experience. Exactly how useful these sites will be is going to depend on how complex and specific your business happens to be. For example: Q. What happens to your HMRC liability if you manufacture and supply components within a supply chain of an EU registered company? Q. If you deal in perishable goods how long will crossing borders take? How do you prepare for frictionless movement with minimum delays with prior approvals with HMRC as well as EU customs? Q. Will the Irish border require a higher level of security for high value or restricted goods to be in place before you can cross it? Q. How do you qualify for AEO status if you’ve only ever traded inside the EU? Q. Will you still be able to employ EU nationals for your roll on roll off business? Q. What level of increased workload or digital expertise will you need? There are going to be as many questions as there are companies. Another question. Q. Can Britannia Bureau answer all – or indeed any – of the the above questions? A. Yes. Over the next two months we will be putting the finishing touches to our own Brexit Guide. It won’t be online. As you can see from the above, there are no ‘one size fits all’ solutions. Our preferred practice will be based on a face to face engagement with senior members of your company with plenty of hot coffee. We will ask as many questions of you as you do of us until we can provide a bespoke programme that outlines exactly how your company needs to prepare for its own Brexit. Q. How much? A. We aim to provide the service to a limited number of clients for less than a third of an online membership fee. Right now, without committing to any costs why not mail us any Brexit questions you already have? If we don’t have an answer, we’ll make it our business to find one. Last question. Q. Americano or Latte?
